A poker tale

Once upon a time, there was a girl who played in a weekly blogger game. She wasn't a serious kind of player, at least not in these games with her friends, or at this kind of buyin...hell, she would spend more on that for a coffee and a bearclaw in trendy cafes, so the money meant little to her.

In one of these games, the girl played a hammer. What the hell, she thought, it's fun, and it's what bloggers do apparently. And it FEELS right to play this now. So she made her hammer raise and had another sip of her strawberry marguerita (this was in the ancient pre-martini days).

Well it ended up her and her opponent were all-in. And her hammer ended up taking out the opponent. There was much hullabaloo the next day, when the opponent posted about the game in his blog, basically calling her a donkey and an idiot for playing that kind of shit.

The girl felt bad and apologised for her play, and made excuses for it. Upon reflection, she realized that that made her feel awful - one does not sell out instinct and intuition in such a cavalier fashion.

****

Fuck that shit. I play how I play. I won't make excuses for it anymore, and I won't apologise for it anymore.

You don't like it? Too bad .... I do.

****

I get why TenMile took his blog offline and started another more private one. It hit today to what extent I have been censoring myself, both watching what I say and writing for other people. In the words of my comic book hero, Tankgirl, bollocks to that!

Nope Kat..... I've looked and i've looked, nowhere does it say "WHAT" to gamble with in the actual definition.

One girls "hammer" is another man's "TuckFard Nutz."

I actually get crap from Carson all the time for saying "sorry."

Maybe I'll get to run my Q-4o into that 7-2 your holding. Hey I know, we could spice it up a bit and add a drink to the bet!

    Can't help it!
    Gambler [gam-blur]

I remember that, and I remember piling on to Byron for being such a little baby bitch.

Kat, sorry for getting yet another hand history wrong on my blog. Does not change my point though, I knew you were getting all the chips in on that flop, and I pushed 'em in anyways. It's a bad play and something I need to constantly work on to keep getting better.

I do not recall the situation with Byron, but I can only assume that he would laugh and apologize about it now if given the opportunity. Personally I think people take this stuff a little too personally, something I have certainly been guilty of over time myself no doubt.

You are an excellent player and of course you can and will and should play however you want. I doubt anybody would deny that if asked.

Onward and upward my friend. You hit the nail on the head. This is your blog and no one can stop you from thinking and writing whatever you want. Tiz the beauty of it all.

If you can live with it, say what you want! That's freedom!!! To heck with the rest of the world; they can choose what they want, but they can't choose what you are. "And it harm none, do as thou wilt." Hammer away.

But if you beat me, all bets are off, sweetcheeks... ;o)
