I played my first Stud game ever last night.
Don't ask me why I thought playing a WPBT tournament would be a good time to learn how to play this poker variant; like so many other questionable decisions in my life my only reason is "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
So there I was, feeling even furthur out of my depth than usual. I had fun, but I'd like to apologize for any and all suckouts - I had no clue what I was doing. None at all.
But I think I'll learn a bit more about it.
I like the visibility of the cards; I loved making people think the visible was paired, and loved covering the fact I had pocket kings hidden. I can't believe I landed 19th of 42...go figure *grin.

Stud is the first game I ever played because my parents love it. I remember them telling me to STAY AWAY from NLHE cause it's too hard and too much money is thrown around. Of course I ditched the Stud game and went straight to the NLHE. hehe I'm not sure I could even play Stud now - I might try it though for something different.
Great job, Kat. I know Stud very well -- my first real poker education was at the stud and stud hi-lo tables in the Taj Mahal in AC -- but still was amazed that I lasted past #20 as well in the wpbt tourney. Stud is a really great game, although I find the hardest part of following the right strategy (this may be true about holdem as well) is learning to just automatically throw away the crappy starting hands.
Anyways, nice work, and please keep staying just below me on the wpbt POY leaderboard, thank you. :)
